SUMMARY:US Tax Reform (Penang)
DESCRIPTION:The US Congress has approved and the US President has signed into law a massive tax reform package. This moves the US toward a participation exemption-style system for taxing foreign-sourced income of domestic multinational corporations\, with some of the cost of that tax relief offset by provisions that scale back or eliminate many longstanding deductions\, credits\, and incentives for businesses and individuals. The impact of these changes could be significant to global multinational companies operating in or trading with US and may influence strategic decision makings. \nAMCHAM is delighted to have three tax experts from Deloitte to help address and highlight key areas that are relevant to U.S. companies based in Penang\, on Wednesday\, July 18 from 1.50 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Hotel Equatorial Penang. \nThis is a sharing session of what companies need to be cognizant about. Seminar outline: \n· Global Tax Perspectives & Trends \n– A World of Change \n– Industry Lens (What / How / When) \n· U.S. Tax Reform – Value Chain Impact \n– Risks and Opportunities \n– Local Jurisdiction Considerations \nSeats are limited to two persons per company\, on a first-come first-served basis and coffee/tea will be served. The ticket price is now priced slightly more to cover the costs of holding the program in a larger space. \nFor more details\, please contact Elyna at elyna@amcham.com.my

SUMMARY:2018 APCAC Business Summit
DESCRIPTION:“Charting a Bold Future: US Businesses in the Asian Century” is the theme for the 2018 APCAC Business Summit to be held in Kuala Lumpur\, Malaysia on Wednesday and Thursday\, April 4-5\, 2018. \nThis high-profile annual summit attracts over 300 participants including senior government and private sector leaders from the USA and the Asia-Pacific region. Dato’ Sri Haji Mohammad Najib bin Tun Haji Abdul Razak\, the Prime Minister of Malaysia is invited to open the conference and we also anticipate the involvement of several U.S. Ambassadors\, state governors\, city mayors\, and senior U.S. Administration officials. \nThe 2018 Asia-Pacific Council of American Chambers of Commerce (APCAC) event will be hosted by AMCHAM Malaysia. \nWhy Malaysia\, and why now?\nWith the current U.S. administration’s focus and messaging about prioritizing American interests\, a retrenchment from overseas engagement is predicted. For those of us based in Asia\, we have seen these shifts result in increased questions about the commitment by U.S. business to these markets. Will U.S. companies continue to invest in: \n● Local talent?\n● Localizing their products and services?\n● Engaging in ways to develop and grow local economies?\n● Social responsibility initiatives? \nAt APCAC\, we know the answer is a resounding ‘YES.’ \nAt our upcoming Summit\, we will be providing participating sponsors and companies a showcase to demonstrate their continued engagement and commitment on a range of important topics\, all while highlighting the dynamism and value of American business. \nMalaysia\, a founding member of both ASEAN and the Trans-Pacific Partnership\, is geographically positioned between the emerging regional powerhouses of China and India and sits at the nexus of these shifting economic ties. In this context\, now is the right time and Malaysia is the ideal place to host what we believe will be a seminal platform to emphasize the longevity and nature of U.S. investments in the region\, highlight the relevance of our corporate values\, and promote the ongoing committed engagement of our partner companies.\n \nWhat is APCAC? \nAPCAC is an association of 29 American Chambers of Commerce from 22 economies in Asia-Pacific. APCAC comprises of 15\,000 Member companies\, 50\,000 overseas American executives and 10 million employees; the region has USD 620 billion in annual FDI management and more than USD 1 trillion in annual trade. The APCAC Business Summit is hosted each spring by one of APCAC’s member associations and we are delighted to have been chosen to bring the Summit to Kuala Lumpur in 2018. American corporations find value in this association with a number of them supporting APCAC by being part of the Chairman’s Circle: VISA\, Abbott\, GE\, Citibank\, PayPal Caterpillar\, UPS\, amongst others.\n \nFor additional information\, please do not hesitate to contact AMCHAM Malaysia directly: \nMs Siobhan Das\, Executive Director apcac@amcham.com.my

SUMMARY:Clean In Place (CIP)\, Steam in Place (SIP) Technologies for Food & Pharmaceutical Industries
DESCRIPTION:Join us on Tuesday\, Feb 6 from 9.30 a.m. – 11.30 a.m. at the AMCHAM Executive Office for a spotlight session brought to you by Haskell. \nThis program is recommended for Operations\, Engineers\, Technical Services and Maintenance professional\, to identify and troubleshoot issues with an existing operation in the Food & Beverage\, Dairy\, Pharma and Biotech industry. \nSeiberling\, a Haskell Company\, is an Engineering and Technical Consulting Company providing process\, clean in place (CIP) and steam in place (SIP) design and automation services to the Food\, Dairy\, Pharmaceutical and Biotech industries. Seiberling Associates\, Inc. was founded in 1976 and has built long-term relationships with clients by developing innovative\, automated and cost-effective hygienic engineering solutions. \nClean in place (CIP) technology has great benefits when applied correctly for sanitary industries\, such as food and pharmaceutical manufacturing. If implemented poorly\, it can create day-to-dayheadaches\, or worse recalled product. We will review a case study of an existing installation which was modified by the plant with subsequent poor product quality because of improper execution. \nSteam in place (SIP) technology is the typical approach for sterilizing equipment in place for pharmaceutical manufacturing. Similar to CIP\, failure to execute properly can lead to serious product quality issues. This case study reviews issues with steaming equipment to maintain sterility. The root cause\, tools\, approach and resolution will be discussed for both the CIP and SIP case studies. \n\nPlease register early as seats are limited and complimentary.
